ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Gives in-depth anatomy and physiology lectures with a particular interest on singing-voice specific anatomy and physiology.
Psychoemotional exploration of singing.
Draws attention to the causes, management, and practice of inflexibility in the singing voice.
Explores psychoemotional and neurochemical responses to stress and how it manifests and effects the body-centered singer or voice professional.
How to create healthy physical boundaries as a voice professional.
Individual and partnered body mechanic assessments with participants.
Teaches myofascial release strategies to ease, reduce and/or prevent discomfort.
Utilizes targeted stretching, trigger point, and functional movement strategies.
Initiates mindful awareness using anchors of breath, proprioception, visual, and auditory cues.
Acoustic Singing Masterclass with assisted myofascial release of the larynx.
Non-singing specific assisted myofascial release sessions targeting the jaw and larynx.
Provides at-home exercises and explorations to facilitate lasting release in the singing and/or speaking mechanism.

Students will list the complete musculature of inhalation and exhalation.
Students will identify common trigger points of the posterior torso and abdomen.
Students will list kinesiological movements associated with femural motion ideal for the alignment of the singing and speaking mechanism.
Students will self-identify circumlaryngeal tension and explore acoustical changes before and after myofascial release of the larynx.
Students will list the muscles of mastication and laryngeal function.
Students will identify bodywork techniques best associated with self-palpation of the jaw and larynx.

Techniques will allow participants the opportunity to manage muscular and fascial inflexibility that may currently be problematic in their singing or speaking.
Fine-tuning body mechanics will assist in working smarter and safer, while providing a clear understanding of alignment patterns that can effect phonation.
A more robust understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the voice.
Utilizing mindfulness techniques to inspire a safe exploration of bodywork.

Anyone! The workshops are geared toward speaking and singing voice folx, but anyone with interest in exploring these modalities in a safe space is welcome to attend.

Of course not! The faculty are here to guide you through an immersive, safe experience. You are welcome to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

Absolutely. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment. Although some of the class offerings require movement, we are extraordinarily accommodating to those in need of adjustments. We send a questionnaire with inquiries of your individual needs roughly a week before the start of the workshop.
